By now you have probably read about the Delta turkey sandwich needle incident and might be asking yourself why you ever ate airplane food in the first place. I cannot recall the last time I ate airplane food. As a health-conscious child I required that my parents pack me food for travel. Whether made at home, purchased from known shops near where we were, or put together by our hotels, we always boarded a plane armed with healthy food.
With the risks of chomping on sewing needles or packing in thousands of unknown calories, why bother putting yourself in an obviously precarious position? If your flight is three hours or less I suggest that you eat before you leave or wait until you arrive at your destination. If your flight is longer than three hours, read my recommendations below for ideas of what you might bring with you and how you might structure your meals for your trip.
